The China Scholastic Competency Assessment is run by the China Scholarship Council and measures the academic readiness of international applicants. According to official sources it is required for applicants to bachelor's programmes under the Chinese Government Scholarship; which subjects you need depends on your university and major.
| Subject | Who takes it | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Mathematics | All applicants | Compulsory; can be taken in Chinese or English |
| Professional Chinese | All applicants | Humanities or STEM track |
| Physics or Chemistry | Science and engineering majors | In Chinese or English, depending on the major |
Most questions are multiple choice and each subject is scored 0–100. Requirements can change by programme and year, so check the official CSCA site and your university's own requirements before registering.
